Bathroom Mold Question and Answer
Q.
There is black mold
in the bathroom of my friends apartment in Columbus. They clean it every
week with a mold and mildew remover, but it still comes back. They all have
been sick for a month, and one of the guys wakes up every morning with his
eyes shut with green mucus and they are red and irritated. He also has a
sore throat and his ears and head bother him. He has had these symptoms for
a month now. What should I advise them to do? [June 10, 2003]
A.
With the serious health problems and visible
mold growth your friends are facing, the first thing they should do is to
immediately move out, at least temporarily, to a mold safe place to live.
The mold victims should not move any clothing or other personal possessions until they
have been decontaminated of mold spores---learn how to prevent mold cross
contamination in the detailed how to
book Mold Advice
Book. Most landlords will not spend the sometimes substantial sums of money
required for effective and professional mold inspection, mold testing, and
mold removal. If your friends want to document the mold problem, they can
use do it yourself mold test kits from a large hardware or home improvement
store.
