Humidity and Moisture Problems
 We
have developed an innovative and unique method of measuring humidity, an
irreversible humidity indicator, the DampProtect. With the help of these
Sensors, it is possible to detect humidity and moisture problems before they
cause any damage. The indicators provide early warning signals, enabling the
problem to be tackled at source as soon as it is discovered, thereby saving
the immediate and consequential costs that moisture damage entails. They can
also prove condensation problems rather than other sources of dampness.
Background
In many ways, humidity is a requirement for our existence, but at the
same time, too much humidity can cause considerable damage in places where
you least want it. If the humidity level is too high in houses and
buildings, it can cause rot and provide a breeding ground for mould and
fungus.
Damp Protect with Time Display
There are many ways to get an on-the spot account of the relative
atmospheric humidity, however, there are few ways of easily measuring the
relative humidity over a period of time, i.e. how long something has been
exposed to humidity above a certain level. Fugenex Sensors, which are based
on a physical-chemical principle, show how long the relative humidity has
exceeded a predetermined level. The reading on the indicator is
non-reversible. This means that even if the relative humidity temporarily
falls below the humidity level, the maximum humidity reading remains
unchanged. Fugenex Sensors have a robust design that assures high
reliability. The indicators are easy to read and understand, as the length
of the reading is proportional to the time that exposure to humidity has
exceeded the predetermined level.

Application
Humidity problems in buildings occur for many reasons and can affect
unheated areas such as sub floors and lofts. Typical application includes
monitoring restoration work following flood damage. 75% RH is the level at
which bacteria, mould and other micro-organisms start to thrive.
